definitely recommend the sausage and pork rib. definitely worth the wait given the price point and the quality. mac and cheese included pork rind toppings , which added a unique twist. brisket was good, but inconsistent. consider arriving early (12 pm or even slightly earlier), to beat the line and be prepared to stand in direct sun while waiting outside. limited seating available.

I have heard alot about 2M smokehouse so I wanted to give them a try. I went on a Saturday to try their bed ribs which they only serve on Saturdays. Actually took two weekends as the first trip they had sold out. Yes, sold out so be sure to arrive early to sample their entire menu. Second trip, arrived early and got choice of entire menu choose their beef ribs (pricey), pork ribs, macaroni cheese, and coleslaw. Everything was delicious and the meat is cooked in a way where bbq simply wasn't needed. Myst try for anyone visiting the city. It be prepared for a line, occasional lack of meat choice, and a bit pricey but overall worth the experience.

Flavor: AService: BTea: FSolo dining: BI've been hearing about this place since I moved to San Antonio and finally got to try it for myself. It's popular. The line was out the door when we arrived on a Friday at noon. And it moves surprisingly slow considering all the food is ready. They make no apologies for how they've decided to run their business, and considering the demand, I can't blame them. They try to promote more of a meat market counter than a restaurant, but I wish they would create some sampler platters to make ordering easier. We both got the 2M sandwich and it was a lot of meat and everything was good. The macaroni is one-of-a-kind and delicious. Now I want to try all of the sides. The 'BBQ syrup' is also a unique creation and perfectly complements the meat. There is both indoor and patio seating. Both are limited but the slow line gives time for people to eat and be gone. It's a shame they can't brew some tea. Despite some shortcomings, I'm a fan and will be back. Ideally with a larger group because that would be the ideal way to enjoy this place.

I walked into this place as a vegetarian; as I was only hoping to get a quick mid-afternoon snack. The polite owner apologized for being out of cole slaw, then pulled some Jedi mind trick to make me try the moist brisket and a spare rib. Wow can't believe I've been missing the sweet taste of meat this whole time. This place is so good it will make even a vegetarian beg for more.

There can be a wait and they will run out of some items the later it gets. With that said, the wait is typically reasonable and well worth it. They have a system, read the boards while in line, follow that and you'll role right through the line. Indoor and outdoor seating available.Pretty typical pricing for the quality. Wish we lived closer, we go more often!

I waited for 45 minutes BUT it sure was worth it! Best ribs and brisket I have ever had in San Antonio. Don't want too many people to know, there may be NONE left for me next time. Better get there extra early!

This place lives up to the hype. The best BBQ I've had, ever. These guys are both artisans and experts...and absolute professionals. They also understand that smoke is not supposed to be the primary flavor. The reason for a loss of star? .. The price. Yes, sometimes you get what you pay for and I get that - I believe in it. But I had a delicious pulled pork sandy $10 (comes with small side), 2 pork ribs and a soda. The bill was north of $25 ... The place is great, but that's not a price that works for me. Would the sandwich have been enough? Sure...but still.

Brisket was so good! Tried the ribs and pulled pork and liked them as well but I'd come back for the brisket. Oh and the beans. So good. If you come on a weekend get here right when they open if you don't wanna risk missing something, it goes fast! Be prepared for a line.

Fantastic, brisket was the best I ever had. Not a fan of their sauce. It is a syrup more than anything but wow I had turkey, sausage, ribs and brisket with sides. We went there for a team function. Did I say fantastic. Best BBQ in town. 6 stars if I could give it.

Old school Smokehouse and the food is out of this world. Their brisket is as good as you can get anywhere in the country. They came recommended by another top notch smokehouse 1400 miles away. Well worth the trip. They aren't fancy because the food is the point. If you require tablecloths this is not your place. Your loss.

The food was delicious. It is a bit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for and more. The street creamed corn was amazing and very unique. BBQ sauce has great unique consistency but you don’t even need to use it with how great the meets are. Gotta splurge and get the beef rib. Worth it.

Long lines, but great good! Waited in line for about 45 min, and I was told that wasn't a long line for them. Food was great though. Brisket was very tasty, Mac and cheese was awesome. The cheese sausage was good, but not the best I've had in that category. Soda fountain with craft soda was pretty cool.Give this place a try, but make sure to go before they run out of food for the day and check their hours!

Great BBQ they just don't make enough of it and it's expensive. All sides are added a la carte. Long wait times and they'll run out of what you want by they'll time you get to the counter.

The food was tasty. The sides we got were only a half cup of food. Pricey for what was served. 2 meals of brisket, cut in a nice quarter inch slice on a corn tortilla (that was a taco) they each had a quarter inch of fat across the length of it, 2 potato salads .. Half cup each, 2 bottled waters, and 1 spicy pickles and onions... Was $32. Everything charged separately. Charged separately is not an issue but it seemed high to me for the amounts.

This place is the truth. Arrived an hour before opening on a Sunday and was first in line. Shop opened promptly at 11 AM and I could tell from the smell it was going to be awesome. I was not disappointed. We had the brisket, pork ribs and two sausages including one stuffed with Oaxaca and serranos. Pickled nopales, Mexican street corner and tortillas made for the sides and give this outstanding Texas BBQ some Mexican flavor. Everything was terrific. The brisket was juicy and pull apart tender. The ribs had that perfect bite where they came off the bone clean but weren’t falling apart. The sides were excellent. The craft fountain soda was a great accompaniment—didn’t miss sweet tea in the least. Would highly recommend and am only sorry we missed out on the Saturday only dinosaur beef ribs!

Definitely a must when your in the SA area. We had a bit of everything on the menu. Totally worth our 4.5 hour drive from home. Food is delicious, the brisket is something else. That macaroni 🤤 Barbacoa on Sunday is totally a hit. First bite and your in food heaven. Great work 2M Smokehouse. We'll be back again.

Incredible. This is a San Antonio "must experience" for any out-of-town visitors. And a "must patron as much as possible" for any locals. I seek out and eat BBQ all over the country and love regional specialties. 2M has significantly raised the bar in San Antonio for brisket, dare I say rivaling the renowned Franklin BBQ (their other offerings are great, too). I bring guests here who almost always scoff at "waiting in line for food". Yet, every single person has "understood" after their first bite.

This is the best BBQ my wife and I have ever had anywhere. Don’t be put off by the location, lines to get in or the small seating area. After your first bite nothing else matters. We’ve been to Lockhart, Austin and other BBQ havens. However, they don’t match 2M. Not even close. I had no idea brisket and ribs could taste this good, but don’t take my word for it. Try it and you will see why this place is gaining fame throughout the state.

The best brisket! Very nice bark and not a single dry bite. Mac and cheese were also superb. A must go to place in San Antonio, even if it takes a drive to get to.

BBQ is good. But pay attention to this. When ordering you're meats it is YOU'RE responsibility to make sure you pay attention to their scale, it doesn't matter if you say a pound the employee simply puts the meat on the scale and YOU have make sure it weighs in at a pound. The scale is not placed in front of you though they have it on the side but it's still your responsibility. This is a mom and pop shop so don't expect Customer service.

My wife and I really liked this barbeque place. This was our first time and 2M Smokehouse did not disappoint. Brisket and Turkey where some of the best I have ever had, tender, juicy and very tasty. Al Pastor sausage was a surprise and tasted really good. Mexico style street corn was good, heavy on the cilantro, but good. The Chicharoni Macaroni was awesome. Definitely heading back.

Sausages, and turkey were good, nothing to write home about. The corn and potato salads were kind of bland, they needed more salt. The fountain soda is great. The ribs were cooked perfectly, but it is Texas style, so it is just salt and peppered. I personally think pork can be bland and prefer a rub with sugar, onion, paprika... but if you like just salt and pepper this is great.5 stars for the brisket alone. It's high quality USDA prime cooked perfectly and served when it's ready. They've really timed it perfectly so that it's not dried out when it's served. It really is one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life.

Esaul is smoking the best brisket in San Antonio, and some of the best in Texas. I’ve been several times, and they are always consistent in quality and friendly customer service. The sausage is also fantastic as well. I can’t give enough kudos to these guys. Good job and keep up the great work.

Arrived at 12:30 Sunday, 30 minute line to order. By 1, they were starting to run out of meats and sides, but they did a great job letting everyone in line know what was left. Brisket and turkey were perfect, as we're the beans, potato salad, and Pico de Gallo. No sauce needed, although I did taste it. Strong candidate for the best BBQ I've ever had. Including a well-known spot in Austin. Line up early!

I liked it better than Franklin's. Brisket was the best. Turkey was moist. At 1:30 on Sunday they were almost out of everything. Go early and wait in line for best selection.

Mac and cheese TOO SALTY.... potato salad taste as if Kirkland’s was a seasoning. Too over priced. I stood in line for 55 minutes for really nothing.... I was really excited because of all the great reviews. I’m really disappointed.

Seriously the best BBQ I've ever had. Amazing. The brisket is what they do best, and make sure to get there early and wait in line before they run out, it's worth it. Very moist and succulent, with a fantastic bark. The Serrano sausage is delicious as well. All the sides are very flavorful and delicious. I wish I could come back and get more of this fantastic Smokehouse

Tender, flavorful brisket. Chunky potato salad that bites back. Creamy cole slaw. Delightful house pickles. Wonderfully friendly staff! My 45 minute wait was completely forgotten once I stepped up to the order counter and the friendly dude chopping brisket handed me a burnt end to sample! Definitely glad I came here on my lunch break today!

Let me start by saying that the food is 5 star fare. The Brisket is some of the best I’ve had, and I’m a frequent brisket cook who has tried most of the “famous” bbq joints across Texas. The Sides are also delicious and creative. They serve the food on metal trays, which does make eating and tossing bones simpler. The spartan accommodations, inefficient service (slicing and weighing is performed by 1 person) and lack of tables diminish the overall experience. Also, be prepared to wait. We showed up around 12:15 on a Thursday and waited in line for 45 minutes. They had also sold out of sausage by the time we made it to the counter. Also, they do not sell tea, but do allow BYOB.I will definitely return, but will go with an expectation of waiting and understanding that the great BBQ makes all the downsides worth it. Add this to your “must try” list when you have the time and patience!

The food here is expensive! I have only ordered the beef and pulled-pork tacos so far and they are really GOOD. For eight dollars you get two tacos and a drink. I guess that is a great deal because the tacos are generously filled with meat. Sometimes you have to wait in line for an hour and you worry there will be no place to sit or food items will run out before you get to order. Refills on sodas are free. Get there early.UPDATE: No more taco special ... BUMMER!On Thursdays and Fridays there is a $8.99 special where one gets either a chopped brisket or pulled pork sandwich and one side. The brisket sandwich was delicious. Did not like the potato salad.

Watch your money! The cashier ripped us off! My wife and I ordered half a pound of brisket and half a pound of ribs (total 1 lb of meat) to share with a pint of beans and potato salad. We got regular fountain drinks. Our total was around $62.00When I argued the price with the cashier she said that’s what the scale weighed- there was a long line of people behind me so I didn’t argue with her long, I know she charged us for the people ahead of us. I just paid and figured I’d warn people about the place. As for the food- I will admit the brisket was amazing. The sides however were ugly- we didn’t touch them after the first bite This was my most honest opinion- I do not exaggerate. For as little as we got- to feed only two people, were were absolutely furious about the amount they charged us. Beware of the greed

Great brisket! Not a lot of room for seating, so please get there early, and I mean before the doors open early. I know everyone has their own favorite BBQ and this one just isn't mine. Besides the brisket, everything else was average. Loved how they include tortillas.

I sometimes have a difficult time rating barbecue places. Sometimes there food is good for that area, but not great compared to others you have tried across the country. I've tried a handful of barbecue places in SA over the years. Some are historic touristy places that get points for the ambiance, atmosphere, location, history, etc. But this place has none of those qualities, so I have to go with just the food and service. This place is in the middle of nowhere if you're visiting SA for business or a convention. The hours are very limited. Forget stopping by for dinner, because the close at 4. But, if you get there, you can expect some really good barbecue, and just to be clear, this is totally Texas style, right down to the sweet balsamic sauce, which is quite liquid and has no trace of tomato in it. For myself, I'm more of a KC-style fan, so this isn't 100% up my alley, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating it, and being thankful for a decent barbecue place to go to on my trips here. The sides, macaroni and cheese and potato salad, were good. I love German-style potato salad, even when served cold like this, so that was a bonus. Check your schedule and plan it well because this place is worth it.

SO GOOD. Worth the drive. Get there a little early, on a weekday if possible. Everything was amazing, but I wouldn't miss the brisket (obviously) and the mac and cheese (definitely get the chicharrones on top). The sandwiches are gigantic and a really good lunch deal. You'll need to have your order ready before you get to the counter and it would help to have a friend snag a table if you're eating in. There are not a ton of spots to sit. For drinks they have some bottled, but also really good soda made with cane sugar.

I love good BBQ and this place is beyond belief! I am always looking for the next great BBQ and after eating here I find myself completely fulfilled and longing for the next time I can have more. A perfect rub, heavy on the pepper, an excellent smoke ring and no sauce. In fact there isn't any sauce on the table - this should be an issue of the quality. It doesn't need the sauce, the meat provides all the flavor you'll ever need. Recognize I come here for the meat. Sides are named sides for a reason, the real meal is the meat, so I wonder be commenting on something irrelevant as a side - it's ask about the BRISKET! I'd eat here everyday if I could, but unfortunately I'm visiting and will have too patiently wait for my next trip. Until then 2M, don't change a thing, your absolutely perfect.

AS OF 12/28/2018 BEST IN SA. I've been to over 45 BBQ joints looking for the best. When I order, I always get the Holy Trinity for BBQ, Brisket, Sausage and Ribs. This place did not disappoint on any category. Ribs were good and the sausage, was surprisingly really delicious but stay away from the chorizo flavor, it was not good at all. One of the best Briskets in the state and definitely the best in SA, and the only 5 star in San Antonio for BBQ!

I give it 4 out 5 cows🐮🐮🐮🐮. Mostly good place overall. I would go back. Certainly not Franklin's, although they are sure trying to copy Franklin's. Good spot, better than average, better than most BBQ places in SA. Staff is great, very nice. 2M is worth trying.

Great place, excellent customer service and YES great BBQ! Central style brisket was on point, pork ribs were a little on the sweet side wasn't a huge fan. Homemade serrano sausage with cheese was amazing not too spicy. Mac and cheese was great. Overall would definitely visit again. If you have a chance worth the trip & go out support San Antonio Bar-B-Q

This place is like a fire hazard. I felt like it was ME who was in the slaughterhouse. Crowded, no seating, can’t even provide what they are supposed to sell...FOOD. They run out of product to sell within the first two hours they are open AND only open on weekends??? How does that work? They do have a small deck area with large tables but right next to it there is a giant patch of grass where they can clearly EXPAND the deck and add more tables. Better to make your own BBQ at home. Don’t waste your time, gas or $$$ until these owners learn to properly run a restaurant. Might as well be a food truck. Pathetic.
